Rynn wanted to leave home, but being the unwilling substitute princess isn’t quite what she had in mind…
Sensible–and perhaps a little bossy–Rynn is the oldest of the woodcutters’ children. Tired of managing her siblings, she leaves home and serves as the lady’s maid for Princess Davina of Astoria, and travels with her to Farthendale where the princess will marry the oldest prince.
Unfortunately, the idealistic and insensible Princess Davina has other plans. Using fairy magic, she forces Rynn to take her place on her magical white horse, Falada, and pretend to be princess of Astoria before she runs off.
Rynn knows the relationship between Astoria and Farthendale is already on the rocks, and if Rynn and Davina’s deception is uncovered it will have grave consequences. So Rynn tries to subtly hint to the prince and his handsome cousin, Conrad, that she is not the real princess. Thankfully, Davina doesn’t get far, and Rynn soon realizes the princess is serving as the king’s new goose girl.
Rynn must either convince Davina to reveal herself, or get through to Conrad, or her life may be lost.
