Welcome to our new home, Champions! I’m still “moving in” so to speak, so some things are a bit rough, but for the most part everything is up and running. To celebrate the move, Beauty and the Beast will be available for free 10/6–10/10! If you already have a copy spread the word to anyone you think would enjoy it!
Okay, the new site has a lot of fun goodies, so let’s dive right in! First up, the world of Timeless Fairy Tales has a map! Daniel of Daniel’s Maps took my scrawls and my awful, blobby writing-reference map and created this beauty:
The map is meant to be a reference, not a spot-on geographical chart–which means everything isn’t done to scale. (Math frightens me, and I didn’t want to try to fathom how many miles/kilometers each country was.) Still, I’m hopeful it will help everyone better picture how the various countries are positioned and how it affects them. You can find the map at its new home in the Timeless Fairy Tales tab under the books section, along with the Timeless Fairy Tales timeline.
The long awaited fanart gallery is up! Now that I have the ability to group pictures and link to artists, it will be much easier to display and post fan art. I’ve wanted this feature for a loooong time, so I’m thrilled I finally have something concrete to show for it!
There’s also a new tab For Writers. The big thing in this new section is that it has a PDF handout that lists a ton of helpful resources. I know there are a lot of budding authors out there, and there aren’t enough hours in the day to chat with everyone interested in writing, but I still want to be an encouragement-hence the resource list! I have personally used/read/watched/listened to all of the resources on the list, and they’re the best that I know of, so if you’re interested in writing give ’em a look! The handout also contains info that I get asked pretty frequently (in example: how did you find your editors?) and I intend to update it whenever I stumble upon a new resource or commonly asked question.
The page for bloggers isn’t up quite yet, but I waded through all my King Arthurs posts and linked up any book-specific posts to the right book page. (I did that with my fairy tales from the start, but even though I write themed King Arthurs blog posts I never got around to doing the same for them…until now anyway!)
This new website has so many new features and tools, I can hardly wait to put it through its paces! I’m still a little leery, though, because I don’t know for sure that everything is working. In particular, if a few of you who are subscribed to the blog would give a shout in the comment section that you received notification of this I would really appreciate it. (All subscriptions were imported over here, but I want to make certain it’s working.)
And that seems like plenty for today! Thanks for reading, Champions. I hope you have a pleasant weekend!
I just noticed something about your map. (By the way, I love it. Thank you for bringing it out.) I just noticed that essentially, there are 12 areas. Each book is in a different country (with the exception of Wild Swans and Puss in Boots, but then Cinderella has both Erlauf and Trieux in it.) Is it safe to say that the rest of the fairy tales will be in those countries you haven’t used yet? Or will there be overlap again, possibly with Severins arrogant brother being The Frog Prince? Or will you save some for the other fairy tale stories that are not part of Angelique’s timeline?
Oohhh, +10 for careful observations! 😉
There’s four fairy tales left to release before Angelique’s books, and three of those will be in countries we haven’t yet explored. (The fourth is, as you guessed, another overlap book.) We won’t get to see Zancara, Torrens, or Baris, however, each of those areas will have future fairy tales that take place in them. (As you mentioned, Angelique’s arc is going to close off, but after that I intend to release more books like the Snow Queen duo in which I explore a fairy tale in more than one book. Those stories will still have an impact on the land–particularly because some will take place before Angelique and her friends are alive, and others will take place DIRECTLY after–but they won’t intertwine into a huge arc.) I hope that helps! 🙂 (I’m particularly looking forward to my Baris heroines–they’re spunky and fiery like Phile!)
Yayyyyy, I can’t wait for the books about Phile!
New reader here! This is my first visit to your site, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it looks great on mobile!
That’s GREAT! Thanks for the feedback! 😀
I did not receive an email telling me the site was redone, I don’t think. Unless I deleted it by accident. Do you know how I can test this?
Hmmm, are you signed up to receive notifications of new posts? (Sign up is there on the left side) If you already have let me know. It might just be that I haven’t worked everything out yet. (I’m having some problems with the comments still. Some of them get flagged as needing approval, which I have no idea what that is about!)
Well, I signed up to follow this blog a few months ago, but I only ever got the newsletter, not notifications of new posts. I guess that’s my problem?
Ahh, yep, now I see the different sign-up things along the side of the blog. xP Sorry for the false alarm. =)
No problem! 😀 I’m glad we can muddle through this together!
I am so excited! The website looks amazing. The map clears a lot of things up, too. Thank you so much! 🙂
That’s great to hear! I had the map for about a month before the site was up and it was a serious exercise in self-control to keep from blurting out about it. 😉
Received the newsletter, thanks! The new site looks great. I love the map, but was particularly excited to see that more books are planned for Kingdom Quest, the Elves of Lessa and Magical Beings Rehabilitation Center. I can’t wait to revisit those worlds. Looking forward to your next release!
Yes! The Elves of Lessa will be the first world to expand, but I’m excited about the new MBRC books as well. (Times like these make me wish I could write faster!) I’m glad you like the map. 😀
I love the new site! And the map is awesome! 😊
Thank you! 😀 I’m glad you like it–and I hope the map is useful in the future.
So glad you finally got around to making a map! I was just curious though, why aren’t any of the cities depicted?
Mostly because that would have made it into a far bigger project. If we popped the cities on there then travel times suddenly play a big role. For instance we would have had to make sure that the distance between Noyers–the capital of Loire–and Castle Brandis–the capital of Arcainia–were mathmatically correct and that the map reflected that and things would have to be to scale.
Carabas was the one city I could easily pop on there because it’s a coastal city and it’s existence doesn’t do much in terms of defining Arcainia’s size. 🙂
I’ve been subscribed for a while now, and the email looked just like it normally does. The site looks amazing!!! Congratulations!
That is great to know! I’m still using a wordpress engine so everything looks similar for me, but it’s sorta like if your city tore down the public library and built a bigger, better one in its place. All the books and inside stuff would be the same, but the building itself would be different. 😀 And I’m glad you like the site! Thanks for checking it out!
i received the newsletter for this month,Is that what you’re asking?
Yes! With the move a lot of the links got shuffled around and changed, so I needed to make sure everything is still lining up. 🙂 Thanks for letting me know!
I had already subscribed the old site, and I received the news of the new one, which, by the way, is beautiful!! I love the new graphics!!
Yeeeeeeeeeees, I do love the new layout and graphics. The old site honestly made me feel like I was trying to sell something to you all out of the truck of a car. I guess you could say this feels more…legitimate. 😉
I received this as an e-mail! I would say that the notification is working. 🙂
Thanks for responding ! I’m glad I asked, first of all because it’s great to know it’s working properly for you, but also because the notification system that tells me I have comments is not working for me. (Meaning last night I was moping because I thought no one had commented!) I’ll have to look more into this.
There are always kinks to work out when dealing with technology. That is for sure!
