While we wait for the release of Reign of Magic let’s try something different! You probably have assumptions about me that may or may not be true: I wear glasses, I like tea more than coffee, how many books to I read in a month, etc.
Well now is your chance to bring them forward and ask me if your assumptions are true!
Post your assumptions in the comments of this blog post and I’ll pick a bunch of them to respond to in a Youtube video. As a special bonus you can also bring up your assumptions about Perfect Dog and I will respond to those on her behalf! 🙂
Here’s some example videos from others authors if you want some ideas:
- Alexa Donne – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWs9IVbaia0
- The Writing Gals – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YInteVW3xUk
Part of the reason I’m doing this is I have had to make the difficult choice to no longer respond to personal messages on FB or social media, as well as cut back on the time I spend replying to comments and email. (Though Rock Star Assistant Meg will keep handling my email, so you can still send us messages and she’ll share them with me!) I really enjoy connecting with you, and I really believe that these one-on-one connections with my loyal Champions have shaped me into the writer I am today. But this summer I’ve had to take a hard look at myself and I realized that all the responding is taking up too much of my energy and has severely cut into my writing time. And as it was books that brought us together, I need to keep focusing on them.
But I definitely don’t want to miss out on connecting with you, so I’m going to continue to do things like the Summer Read-Along and attempt some new experiments (like this assumptions video) so we can continue to personally interact and have fun together–and talk about books we love!
I am so blessed to have such an awesome Champion community! I seriously can’t thank you guys enough for what you’ve already done, and for hanging in there as we try this out. So, let’s get this party started!
You’ve mentioned gaming, and we know how much you like LOTRO…. I assume you have a PlayStation (PS4?), a Gameboy, possibly an Xbox, and LOTS of computer games. I also think you prob prefer open world, choice-based, customizable-character games. What’s a few of your faves? Have you ever played Assassin’s Creed? No judgment tho haha I have several friends with lots of strong opinions both ways 😉. We agree on maybe 3 games we can play together, like Dungeon Defenders. It’s old, but so fun with a good team.
Hmmm… I assume that you have never had a pet tarantula, or a pet snake.
I assume that you have at least one rocking chair on your porch, but not more than three.
I am also (sadly, to be honest) making the assumption that Britta is no longer your intern, as I haven’t seen you post anything about her in quite some time. However, I also assume that she is still one of your lovely beta readers; if so, please do tell her hello from me!
I assume Angelique and Evariste are your favourite couple. Also you probably fleshed out angel’s story arc before you started on TFT. If yes, in what order did you create your characters and countries?
I assume that you are a Christian
I assume you love animals
I assume that you are witty and always have something sarcastic to say. 😂
Are you Kittenlovemuch?
Hey Kitty! I’ve always assumed:
1. You’re from a large family
2. You’re a Christian
3. You don’t have a lot of time to read books, unless you’re between book projects!
4. You’ve always got a sarcastic backchannel going in your head (although you probably keep most of your comments to your self, unless you’re with people who get that kind of humor!)
Hey Kitty! I assume that you prefer story based video games and that you have a preference for turkey over ham. 😂 Thanks for being you! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much for everything you do, Kitty! I’ve mentioned this in a couple of your facebook posts, but you’re my favorite author, and I love every single one of your books and stories! I also love re-reading them—especially the fairy tales—to see the foreshadowing and clues that build up to the ending. You’re a phenomenal writer and I’m so grateful to you for the effort and passion you put into your stories!
That being said, here are a few assumptions. I read through most of the comments, so I hope these are unique! 😀
1) I assume that Gemma, from Rumpelstiltskin (my favorite of your Timeless Fairy Tales), is distantly related to the Snow Queen. My reasoning is her ice-blue eyes, her love for Verglas, and the beautiful room Stil ends up giving to her at his camp. Am I totally off?
2) I assume you like anime/manga! Your other penname of A. M. Sohma sounds a bit like the Sohma family from Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya–a series which I adore. If so, which anime/manga do you enjoy?
I think that gemma is a descendant of a guard who served verglas during rakel’s time. It was in a short in snowflakes.
I assume that you play wow (world of warcraft). I assume that you prefer dogs over cats. I assume that you didn’t know you could be a writer until after college. I assume you went to college (if you did or not…?) for something like business? You’re a very intelligent lady who naturally can read people and situations. I assume that Kit is super similar to you. I assume your real name is something like Catherine. And i assume perfect dogs actually name really is perfect dog.
Thank you for all that you do Kitty!!! You are amazing and one of a kind! The fact that you could respond to us so much already has been amazing and though ill miss your comments on your blog, Im very glad you are getting less stressed and busy.
I assume that you would like a cozy cabin or cottage with an amazing library, view of some sort, internet connection and perfect dog. You can read and write to your hearts content all while watching the amazing vistas and drinking tea.
Hi not an assumption but could you pronounce some of the harder to say names in your books? I pronounce the names in my head and it bugs me if I think I’m saying it wrong 🤣. Examples: Evariste, Tarinthali, Themerysaldi. I enjoy reading your books so much!
I would love to know as well. Would you ever consider writing a list of how the names are pronounced?
I assume that Kitty Lovemunch is you, the silliness, the sarcasm, the wit, and even the side where she doesn’t think she is all that, she is “just a dancer” you may think you’re “Just a writer”
I also assume that the TV series “Once Upon a time” helped fuel your Fairy Tale series as that show helped bring fairytale characters to life, as well as back to being popular.
I assume the way Miles and Kit act is the way you would act with someone as well.
Is that enough assumptions?
I assume you regularly favorite characters in your books who aren’t as popular as the ones picked in Hero polls. I also assume that you were probably inspired by these books from your childhood favorite fairytales. I’ve been a fan for years now and I’m so excited to continue reading your books!
I assume that you take every comment and fan letter personally, for good or for ill. That’s not a strength or a weakness, just Something That Is. Fortunately, you have a loyal and loving fan base.
I assume that the number of male fans (that we know of) is less than ten. But you can count those less-than-ten among the loyal and living ones.
I assume that you like roller coasters. And merry-go-rounds. And water slides. And skee ball.
I was going to state some assumptions about reading preferences, but they would be projections, not assumptions, so I deleted them.
That “(that we know of)” is pretty important. I’m a dad. I read the TFT, Rakel’s, and Angelique’s series to the whole family (4 girls, 1 boy). We read the extra shorts and the character interviews. We all love everything from the TFT universe. I recommend TFT (and talk too excitedly about it) when talking with any other parents. But as a guy, I don’t do comments. 🙂 This is my first one here… I’d still consider myself an avid fan. So I’d imagine there are plenty of other male fans like me.
Kitty – totally love your books. My wife and I have good talks where we discuss the interesting psychological/societal/cultural ideas you bring up. We probably talked for an hour or so about the biased viewpoints and culture-meshing of Cinderella and the Colonel. Similar talks about other books of yours.
I assume you like tea more than coffee but know your readers are predominantly java aficionados so you keep the tea love on the down low.
I assume each reply to a readers comment is an emotional investment more than a time investment.
I assume Perfect Dog will be the inspiration to a new canine character in the next series you write. But I also assume the character can not compare to my favorite cat character, Puss.
I assume that like Britt, mulan is your favourite Disney Princess.
I assume that you-
Were an avid reader as a child.
It thrills you to write new books and explore different siuations.
Family is a very important part of your life and you wouldn’t give it up for anything!
You enjoy reading posts and conspiracy theories from your fans- especially in your discord server- because they fuel your tendacy for the unexpected in your books!
Perfect dog has accidently not been so perfect after getting into chocolate.
I assume that:
– You are single
– Somewhere in your early-to-mid thirties at the most (you nailed the YA tone & everything so well in MBRC, it really resonated with me as the “sort to college freshman but all my friends are still in HS” I was when I discovered your books)
– You have some connection/familiarity with Christianity
– You would be an awesome person to attend ComicCon with (now THERE’S an idea! Kitty & her champions storm ComicCon, dressed as their favorite characters…)
– Perfect Dog is not actually your dog’s name (but is a excellent pseudonym)
You just wrote out pretty much all of my assumptions. Except for the Perfect Dog one. Which I now totally agree with after reading. 😉
Hi there!
I assume you are secretly cheering for some of your characters that aren’t that popular (when doing favorite character surveys, for example) such as Asher and Aaron. Also, I assume you love physical books but are used to reading on electronic support (I assume on Kindle).
I assume you like to analyse and understand how everything works (on different levels: strategy, social interaction, plot development… etc). I assume that sometimes your characters take control of the story and change everything. Which leads me to assume that you develop your characters before writing; you get to know them until they are familiar to you. I assume you’ve seen and you love all three seasons of Avatar The Last Airbender (If not, you should watch the show; it’s soooo good)
I love your work! Thank you!
I assume you like fairy tales, but are also a realist. I assume that while you like fantasy, you don’t entirely suspend your sense of reality, at least not in the area of human behavior and consequences for choices.
I assume Perfect Dog sleeps for 1/2 to 3/4 of the day.
I assume your characters have a little of your personality in each of them (other than the sarcasm. :P)
I assume you’re a bit more reserved in person than you come across in your blog posts.
I assume that you are an outgoing bubbly person who enjoys having people around her.
I assume that you like to write your stories with a view to the outdoors or even outdoors itself!
I assume that Perfect Dog isn’t very far away from you when you are writing (although I honestly don’t remember much about Perfect Dog (I’m not on FB or any of the other sites like that, just Pinterest, so I’ve missed most of what you’ve probably shared about her)). It’s also amazing that we both have perfect dogs – although mine didn’t start out that way! LOL!
I don’t blame you for backing off of responding as much as you have. It’s amazing that you were able to get anything written being on so many social media sites. I had to get off of Facebook years ago because it took up too much of my time! I thoroughly enjoy your stories and getting these e-mails! Thank you so much for taking time with us. God bless, Kim
I assume you like the BBC series of Pride and prejudice more than the 2005 movie (psst this is your cue to list your fav p&p adaptations) bcoz its one of your fav books (it must be). Also which do you like more:- P&P or The Princess Bride?
And I AM assuming that the list includes Bridget Jones’ Diary and Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
Yes Kinshuk!!! That series is AMAZING!!!!! A.k.a Lady Enchantress!!
I just watched that last night!! Would you meet me on general chat sometime?!!!! It’s amazing Kitty!! You’d love the actress who plays Lizzy!!!
I would love to. What’s your discord name?
I assume you are Catholic or Orthodox (or at least have their influence) from all the references you put into your books (ie, White Veil Nunnery – I can’t think of others right now, but I see very funny (potential) references in a lot of your books).
I assume you have a favorite couple (from your books… I’m not going to venture a guess – hopefully you’ll reveal). 🙂
I assume you read a fair amount books in a month (probably an average of at least 5) and prefer reading books to listening to audio books.
I will also assume you prefer reading physical books to reading books electronically (kindle/nook/tablet).
I assume you have a favorite (or two, or three) authors and/or books.
Wow, someone who knows Orthodoxy exists! I’m impressed. 🙂 If you don’t mind me asking, are you Orthodox?
Lol! I have a friend who is Coptic and when he first told me he was Orthodox I needed a complete explanation…. since learned many a thing and am currently in the process of converting to an Apostolic church… (Anglican)
Point of that post is to say I highly respect the Orthodox community and wish more people were familiar with it.
I am glad you will concentrate on writing. It is your gift and I cannot wait for each of your books. I will miss your emails but I know it will be less stressful if you.
I assume your hair is naturally curly or wavy and (this part is not assumption) super pretty! Also I assume you are on the shorter side when it comes to height, though probably not as short as me (just under 4’10 and I’m not gonna grow)
I asssume you like flowers and are not a morning person. Do you procrastinate a lot or jump into your work? I assume you are not a workaholic. I also assume that you know horseriding, a bit of archery and sword fighting. Also are you a crazy combination of nerd and geek (like me😉)? I assume you prefer chocolate to ice cream. I hope you are well with all the ROM “editing” making you crazy.
I assume that you are single (like me!) and either close to or in your thirties (like me!) 🙂
I assume that your favorite hero type is funny yet assertive (Merlin, Emerys, Stil).
I assume that your favorite tv show is The Office, Grimm, or Once Upon a Time. Not sure if you’ve seen Game of Thrones (I haven’t but most of my friends have, so no judgment either way)
I assume you are extremely patient with all of these personal questions/assumptions 😉
I assume you prefer Prince Severin as a cat. I also assume you have had the bones of Angelique’s story figured out since before you started Beauty and the Beast.
I was first introduced to your books a while ago because my sister-in-law was excited because Beauty and the Beast was free or $0.99 on Amazon so I thought I’d try it. I was so confused as to why Arcainia was so important, but figured it was because you were trying to flesh out the story and make it feel real. My sister’s-in-law told me you had written more fairytales from other counties, but I was certain it was going to be horrible. Then earlier this summer my husband started reading AoM and was telling me all about it. So I started reading it. I don’t know when I connected the two series together, but when I did I realised I had to read everything. Which I did in less than a month. They are so wonderful! I’ve read and re-read AoM and CoM so many times looking for clues for future books and just enjoying the story.
I assume that Perfect Dog is unsure whether or not to be friends with Roland.
I also assume that Perfect Dog’s favorite TFT character is Elle.
Yes! I completely agree.
I assume you like pop music, what music do you like?
I guess I assume from your Instagram pics that you’re an outdoorsy person, or at least enjoy being outside. If so, what’s your favorite kind of hike? Clean trails, or going on less worn down paths? Have you ever tried geocaching? It’s like treasure hunting minus the Pirates, though i think the pirates could be reintroduced.
This is not an assumption, I just wanted to suggest Silver and Orchids for the next read-a-long event. The companion novel is coming soon and I’m sooo excited!
I assume that you read a lot of fairy tales as a child. I also assume that Perfect Dog is not your dog’s actual name. 🙂
I assume Angelique and Evariste are your favourite couple. Also you probably fleshed out angel’s story arc before you started on TFT. If yes, in what order did you create your characters and countries?
Sorry I meant to put in the comments.
Kitty, my girls and I discovered your books through BookBub, and you just may be our favorite author. While we enjoy all of your series, our favorite is definitely the Timeless Fairy Tales. My oldest has even analyzed them and created a chart of what happens when, where, and to whom (your books are even enjoyable for super-analytical readers like her!). While we occasionally groan over spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors, your well-fleshed-out characters and fascinating universe more than make up for it.
Keep cranking them out!
Julie, would your daughter like to share her analysis with the group? 😉 It would be AWESOME to see all the connections on a timeline or chart!!!
