I know this has nothing to do with Magic Forged, but I was rereading Reign of Magic, and noticed Clovicus mentioning Crest’s friend, Wallace, is his assistant right now. If Crest is the traitor, and Wallace is helping him, he could easily keep track of Clovicus and Angelique.

I absolutely love this book!! I’ve already read it three times since its release and I cannot wait until the next one comes out! It was definitely a great start to the series, and I’m excited to see what happens over the next books. I’m glad you tried something new- and glad that I don’t have to wait much longer to get the next book!!

Ok I haven’t read the book yet…I don’t like vampires like at all, (blood sucking/drinking yuck)
Is it worth reading if I don’t like vampires??

Hi Rhapsody, the vampire thing is tastefully done most of the time and humorous at other times. It isn’t ever gorey or gross. It is definitely worth reading the books.

Definitely. Kitty is the reason I started reading any sort of fantasy like that because I’m so anti-vampire/werewolf/over-rated creepy-type beings but her twist on most fantasy creatures just makes me laugh. It’s totally about the story and not about the habits or even desires of the species involved.

The story doesn’t really focus much on the blood drinking aspect. It more focuses on how Killian’s family improves their skills by training.
It also focuses on politics between the different magical communities.

KM Shea, your imagination know no bounds! This is a great adaptation of a gross and creepy fairytale into something that is not only enjoyable, but fun. I enjoy reading these stories to my children (ages 7, 9, and 11). And now that you know the potential ages if your audience I have it say it is really nice not needing to censor the majority of your stories while I read them. I’m too busy with voices for each of your characters. (You should hear it! I get voice coaching from my children when I don’t get their voices right!) I love you and your stories. Please keep up the good work. And enjoy yourself!

While I thoroughly enjoyed the book (the tossing off the balcony and the baiting were hilarious) I too have to note that I didn’t like the increase in swearing. I had to self-edit in my mind and one of the things I’ve enjoyed most about your books is that I usually don’t have to do that. I believe you are much too intelligent and creative to have to rely on swearing to tell a good story (see Retha books as proof 😉).

I love this story! The part where Killian tosses Hazel off the balcony was priceless! Please keep up the good work. I would like to echo an early reply asking if you could leave out cus words. I really prefer can language as well as clean content.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this series because I don’t really like a story with vampires in it – and as it turned out this story was pretty much about the vampires – but I did appreciate that there wasn’t any of the skulking and neck biting. As I was reading I wasn’t getting that good feeling I usually get with your stories, I kept waiting for something to happen that I wouldn’t feel comfortable with – and it did – you put a cuss word in there and I had to quit reading. (I don’t read stories with cussing in them – my preference). I absolutely loved three of your series, but couldn’t get into the King Arthur series or the Magical Beings series, probably because I am an old lady and there was just too much of a teen slant in those stories (teen slang and conversations, not something I relate to anymore.) This is another series I don’t think I will get into especially if there will be more cuss words (even mild ones accepted by most people today). I am looking forward to the next book in the Fairy Tale Enchantress series, loved that one! Loved The Elves of Lessa, and the Fairy Tale series as well. Thanks for all the effort you take to bring us incredible reading experiences. Kim

hi kitty ! loved the short story so much .And I think you should definitely try other fantasy genres because if we don’t try it how will we know we like it or not , But most of all have fun while writing your books and take as many breaks you need .But selfishly it would be better if you could write some angelique short stories,interviews anything at all pls ( But at all cost don’t exhaust yourself

Seeing Killian’s perspective was so perfect. I really love the dynamic of their relationship and how they view each other (and how it changes throughout the book) so I seriously can’t wait for the next one. Also, you mentioned previously that Killian’s character came from Benjimir and Farrin and I totally see it. Surprisingly loyal and not the monster they’re made out to be and with a softness toward the people they care about that makes you realize the mysterious bad-boy is really just a cover up. And I love his dry humor (and tossing her of patios…that’s just funny). I’m a huge fan of this series already!

How to Adopt A Wizard

The launch of Magic Forged and the Hall of Blood and Mercy trilogy has been amazing!


Thank you so much to all the Champions who gave the series a try! I’ve been hearing from a lot of you who don’t normally read urban fantasy, and I can’t tell you how honored I feel that you decided to go for the series anyway and have enjoyed book #1! (I sincerely hope it’s made everyone laugh–or at least silent smile! 😉 )

To celebrate all the reviews and Magic Forged‘s launch in general, I have a short story to share!! This one is from Killian’s point of view, and it takes place during the book, so if you have not read Magic Forged yet, beware! Here there be spoilers!

I actually should have released this last night, but I had just finished the final book in the trilogy–Magic Unleashed–and pretty much collapsed. I’m taking today to reset my creative juices (AKA I’ll fall asleep on Perfect Dog’s cushy dog bed and sleep all day since Monday and Tuesday were real marathons) and then dive into editing tomorrow.


I’ll give everyone the rest of the week to catch up on their reading, and then next week we’ll start the themed posts for Magic Forged! (We have so much fun stuff to talk about!)
