I figured it was about time to give you Champions a community update on what’s happening in both my schedule, and what I have planned for the summer!
Currently, I’m still writing Trial of Magic. I’m sorry to say (for my own sake, I suspect most of you will be happy) that Trial of Magic is probably going to be just as long as Reign of Magic.
For reference, Reign of Magic was about 160,000 words. All of the Court of Midnight and Deception books were in the 93,000 to 98,000 range. Most of my fairy tales are approximately 75,000. So, Trial will basically be more than two fairy tales in length.
I’m still on target for a mid/late summer release, but it will reeeaaalllyyy depend on this month and if I can get it entirely written! I already know editing is going to take a while, mostly because of all the fact checking I will have to do for….reasons. (Hahah, only partially kidding! Part of it is that I have to make sure I cover everything I need to in the middle section of this book.)
Later this month I’m going to have a big sale on the MBRC complete series boxset! I’ll make announcements and post it everywhere when the time comes so you don’t have to worry about missing it.
This summer we are NOT doing the polls. For any new Champions, I typically have 3 polls that I hold every year (Favorite KM Shea/AM Hero, Favorite Heroine, and a special poll where you can all vote for the specific kinds of heroes you’d like to see in future books!). Last year we did a whole slew of them for favorite animal sidekicks, favorite couple, and favorite secondary couple. But we don’t have time for that this summer.
Instead, we decided to go all in on the Fairy Tale Enchantress/Timeless Fairy Tale series! As I mentioned in a previous post, the TFT series will be getting paperback covers that match their ebook covers, we’re going to do a massive sale on TFT as well, and we’re going to have a little reading challenge to prep you for Trial of Magic!
But that’s not all… I also have a secret project I’m working on–it’s not a new book, sadly–that I’m hoping will provide some extra fun! And in the background I’m also going to be getting some Second Age of Retha stuff going–as I announced in the newsletter I plan to have emblems made up for the various guilds in the game, and I’m working on a glossary as well.
WHEW, I think that’s everything that we–the KM Shea Team, that is–have going on for the next few months. It’s going to be busy! A big thanks to the KM Shea team–Meg, Myrrhlynn, Vin, and our Discord mods SuperRog and Mythical Cat–for all their help! (Editors and cover artists too, obviously, but these guys are working their tails off right now as we’re trying frantically to prep for everything!)
Thanks for reading, Champions, and I hope you have a fantastic week!
Oooooo but here’s the thing, it mentions Aysel’s wife….did he marry his human girlfriend?!?!?!? That would be so cool! Slightly snotty high elf marrying a human! Dont get me wrong, I love Aysel!!! It would be perfect!!!
Yessss! I want to know who fell for the other first-and who this amazing girl is! She’d have a backbone-or at least some steel if she was able to tame Aysel (I also wanna see how he confesses his feelings and swallows his pride to her- it’dbesocute!😁
I love your secret projects, even when they are not books! And reading challenges are my favorite! This summer is looking like it will be so much fun!
Think we’ll be able to guess what the project is?
I was going through Miss Kitty’s older Blog posts and in one she had said that she was going to write a series about Aysel from MBRC and his as-of-yet unmentioned heroine. Maybe that’s the secret project?
Woops! I just checked now that the secret project is not a new book. Sorry for the mix-up.
Well, that’s too bad anyway. That could been an AWESOME secret project 😁. I know I would LOVE to read a book about Aysel
Right there with you.
Asyel’s the dark and brooding moon-flood, right?
Yeah, Aysel is the dark, brooding moon prince 😁
Yay more Aysel fans! I don’t think she’s going to start a new project like that until she’s done with both Fairy Tale Enchantress and Second Age of Retha but hopefully it will happen someday!
I would also love to read a book on Aysel! When I originally read the MBRC series, I was kinda hoping that Morgan ended up with Aysel. And this may ( or may not) come as a shock to you that I really didn’t like Devin because of his flirting tendencies. But I approved of their match( this is making me sound like an old grandma!) when Devon proved at the end that he was serious about Morgan. I have never liked the flirty, too perfect heroes! But Aysel seemed perfect, and I would love to meet Aysels human girlfriend. ( Aysels girlfriend had been mentioned in one of the books!)
I’d love to see who catches Asyel’s eye!
Totally! I would ❤ to see as well, that who as the courage to be able to tame the moon prince!😁😁
Oh, yeah! Totally! I love tall, dark, and brooding heroes cuz they usually are so protective, sweet, and caring on the inside ❤️. I can TOTALLY see Aysel like that with his girl. And I love that he ended up with a human 😁
I know, right??
I’ve been very much looking forward to Trial of Magic since I read Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White. I so want to see Angelique’s perspective! I know Kitty’s been dreading it because there’s so much to keep track of, but she’s done an outstanding job so far.
Also yay more Retha anything!
Yay!! Can’t wait for Trial of Magic! I am super glad that its gonna be longer! Though I think I’d have really enjoyed the polls which would have been my first as a Champion, its perfectly fine! I know that you need time to finish your books, Kitty! Ooh and a new book! Maybe a continuation to an old book series or a new series together? And superb and amazing work by the entire KM Shea team!
Ooh, sounds like a busy summer. So excited!
I’m a new champion too. I’m really excited to read all her books and see new things about her world.
cool 🙂
Wow! I am excited!
Now that I am FINALLY a champion, I’m so freaking excited to join in on all of this! Everything looks endlessly interesting and I could probably spend hours here. SO excited to be a part of everything, and can’t wait for everything planned in the future! Lots of love, Kitty 😘❤️❤️
Yay for new members! Welcome to the KM.Shea community, Alexis! 🙂 Which books have you read so far/how did you first discover Kitty’s books? Mines was CoM/Curse of Magic (I got really annoyed with myself when I finished it and found out that it was the second book 😅 )
Haha! I can totally understand that kinda of mixup. I first discovered her a few years ago through her TFT series, and have been collecting her books ever since (I may just have to get all of TFT series again for the new covers ;). The first Shea book I ever read was Rumpelstiltskin (Stil is probably my favorite hero from that series), then I read a few other TFT books before finding WAY more that I snatched up. Now I have read the King Arthur and Her Knights series, the first two books in The Elves of Lessa series, the Snow Queen series (I’m totally in love with Farrin. *Dreamy sigh*), the MBRC series, and now I am finishing up the Hall of Blood and Mercy series, which I have to save is FREAKING AWESOME!! I can’t wait to start on the Court of Midnight series after meeting Leila and hearing about what might be in her future 😁
Leila is probably my favorite heroine to date! When I first read Hall of Blood and Mercy, I was disappointed that Leila was going to be the next heroine because I wanted someone closer to Hazel, but then I read her first book…
It was awesome!
I’ve read every single book of Ms. Kitty’s, and every single one is worth the time. You should totally check out Life Reader, Second Age of Retha, Princess Ahira, and Robyn Hood. Even if they seem like they’re out of your usual genre preference, they’re all amazing!!!
Also, Farrin is awesome! Probably my favorite male character of Ms. Kitty’s after Solus Miles and Rigel. Or maybe tied with them.
I’m a bit of a feminist, so I like the female characters better, like Quinn and Phile, but if I were to rank the top 3 males in the books I’d pick Solus Miles for 3rd, Killian for 1st, and Evariste for 2nd.
Oh yeah, for sure. I love Leila and Britt as my top two favorite characters, and I love Angelique, Rosalinda, and all of Miss Kitty’s characters. But, considering that they’re not female, Solus, Rigel, and Farrin are pretty awesome.
To be real though, Miss Kitty makes all of her characters lively and worth reading about and connecting to, so it would be impossible to pick a favorite if I hadn’t given this topic a lot of previous thought.
My sister has Princess Ahira and read some of it to me, gushing over how funny Azmaveth is, and I have to agree with her 😁. And what I have read about Leila has really excited me too. I can’t wait to get her series soon, and I have the Second Age of Retha series on my ‘to get list.’
Yeah! I love Farrin so much ❤️. He’s probably my favorite, then Stil, then Killian. So far…
Oh wait!! Stupid me 🤦♀️. How could I forgot Benjimir and Arion?! I love both of them too!!
U just reminded me, Arvel and Solus are toying with 3rd on my top 3
I am a new champion too! I discovered Kitty while browsing through my Amazon Kindle looking for some good books, when Hall of Blood and Mercy popped up in my kindle! The description seemed interesting and the front cover which showed Hazel looked cool so I bought the book! And it was so FREAKING GOOD, I couldn’t wait till I got all the books of the series! And now I have read everyone one of Kitty’s books.😉
AWESOME! Yes, I was so excited the first time I saw the covers of the Hall of Blood and Mercy series and immediately snatched them up after reading their description. I immediately loved resound of Killian and HAD to read about him and Hazel😁
Right!!? I really love Hazel and Killian and Leila and Rigel. (dreamy sigh!)
I have been a champion for roughly a year and have been following Miss Kitty’s Blog posts, though I figured out how to comment now. I came across AoM first, and after finishing that series I started on the TFT series. Afterwards, I went into the other series. And I liked all of Miss Kitty’s books so much. 🤔 I think I have read all of them thrice by now at least.
Me too! I think I have reread everyone of Kitty’s books atleast 3 times now. 🤔I think I have read Beauty and the Beast, Hall of Blood and Mercy, Elces of Lessa, Twelve Damcing Princesses and Princess Ahira about 4 times.
I will never complain about one of you books being longer! (Translate that to a very big YAY!) However, with that said, I totally and whole heartily second the request that you take care of yourself! With as much joy and happiness your writing brings us, we want you joyful and happy too in your writing! I’m so looking forward to the reading challenge too. It will be a nice change-up to the polls. I always enjoy/agonize over the polls, so a challenge is a nice way to shake things up a little. I will also re-read the first three books in the FTE series and I’m sure I’ll also re-read Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White before Trial of Magic comes out, just so it’s all fresh in my mind. Right now I’m trying to catch-up on reading some books I have on my kindle that I hadn’t read yet. (For some reason I keep getting side-tracked into re-reading your books. (hmmm!!)) Can’t wait for this summer, and I’m so glad you will be working on Retha after Angelique!
The only thing that makes me sad about this is that I have already read the MBRC books so I won’t be able to take advantage of the sale.
But holding the paperback is just soooooo much more satisfying-plus, you can bring it to school without asking for teacher permission (you always have to ask with kindles and iPads). Maybe pass on a book recommendation to a friend while you’re at it (by that I mean tell the world about kitty’s awesomeness in writing)?
I’ve been so looking forward to the next Angelique book! I go back and re-read Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White whenever I need a taste of what’s coming 😉
As much as I love your books, though, please take care of yourself and give yourself all the time you need. Your health and well-being are more important!
SAME! Whenever I reread ROM, I always read Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White next so I get an idea of what’ll be covered in Trial of Magic.
Same. *squeals* I can’t wait!
The longer the book, the BETTER it is! I’m so excited for Trial of Magic(and the fact that there’s a possibility you might finish it this month 🤩) When I first read about the polls, I was crushed, but then the next part cheered me up! I love a good reading challenge, and in my opinion, Second age of Retha and TFT and FTE all in one summer are even better than the polls! Thx 4 the update!
Speaking of cover artists, I’ve been thinking up of several variations of covers!! Once the official comes out, I’m gonna compare it to mine. (I’m a bit of an narcissist, so I’ll probably think mines is better, though I know yours will look at least 10x more amazing-but as soon as I ask my sister about it, she’ll do the unsisterly thing and trash talk my beautiful-not really, I’m terrible at drawing realistic stuff-design-but stil! how could she??) Btw, see what I did with the word ‘Still’ in the parenthesis?? Can’t wait to see more of him and Gemma!! I also really hope they patch things up with angel before she gets evariste out of the mirror. It’d be really awkward if they were just distantly polite with each other while evariste is trying to figure out what’s going on between them.
I went to a park today, and there was this little girl I hung out with whose name was Gemma! XD
YAY longer book!! 😀 There’s so much I want to know!! ;-D Excited about the secret project, too! 😀
This is all incredibly exciting stuff! Thank you for writing and feeding the fans all the extra goodies. You’re awesome!
