The cover looks AMAZING!!! I’ve been anxiously waiting for Trial of Magic to come out all summer, and I’m SO happy that it’s coming out in less than two weeks! Does anybody know when in the book that Snow White takes place? I’m desperately hoping for more Angelique-Evariste interactions after they’ve been separated for so long. Also, is anyone else secretly wishing that another love interest comes along to make Evariste jealous?? It would just be so hilarious!

Oh and the cover is really amazing! Good job by the Designers. And I finally get to see that she’s drilled it into her THICK head that her magic is nothing dangerous. Huh and maybe she gave away her dress to someone?( I know this theory is really lame)

I like this idea. The more Angelique comes into character for me, the more I feel like the dress is a mask she wears to hide her true self. Besides, I’d love to see her running around in pants.

My theory is that Evariste doesn’t have a color changing dress so they won’t match anymore if she keeps wearing hers. I think, whatever their relationship, that Angelique is going to be a lot more willing to go along with his matchy-matchy plans from now on.

So, what else do we think is going to happen in this book? Since the title is Trial of Magic, I’m tentatively guessing that Angel finally becomes an official enchantress, probably because Evariste and Clovicus gang up on the Council. At least, that’s what I’m really, really hoping!

That would be absolutely amazing!! But if she and Evariste have to split up once she’s made enchantress I’m going to be super sad. Or the Mage Council may hate her so much that they refuse to grant her the rank of enchantress. I desperately need this book to come out soon, otherwise I’m going to go crazy from theorizing!! 🤪

I’ve been thinking about that, and I think either they still work despite being damaged or they have some way of fixing them. I feel that if Angel had permanently broken them, her magic would have been sealed no matter what Evariste said.

I hope so! I think at this point, the council will have to help because of the mirror, but the again they didn’t participate when the future leaders of powerful countries got cursed or people got attacked by the thing they were supposed to be controlling. That may change though.

You know, I’m probably not the first to think of this, but doesn’t Evariste have to tell Angel he tried to kiss her in this book? She dismissed both the kiss and Liliane and Acri as not real, but when he gets out he has to say Liliane and co are real, so he might have to admit the kiss too. Then again, maybe he will shrug that off somehow.

Or Angelique won’t press that point–she’s still in a mental place (as of last we read) where she’d happily ignore the heck out of that/continue to assume THAT part was a real dream or hallucination. I believe Pegasus mentions that she does sometimes have nightmares, so not ALL her dreams were real, allowing for some wiggle room on which parts of what she saw or heard was real, to her mind.

I soooo hope so! I hate how much she beats herself up over her magic. Especially since it has shown time and again that it protects her and others! Such a good and noble thing and she hates it! I’m really looking forward to her finally being happy with herself and her magic. I hope it happens in ToM, but if not, it’s got to happen before the end of the series. I know that it’s not something that one can flip like a switch. It will take time for her to get used to the idea even once she realizes the truth, but, please, let the process start!

You know, isn’t it funny that Lillian’s magic seems like it should be harmless. She has summoning magic. And she is at the level of entrantress. Yet she uses it for evil purposes and is the leader of the dark magic users. Angelique’s magic controls all things sharp. It seems like it should be harmful, yet she uses it for good, only. I like the foil developing here. The state of your heart really is the most important thing, in this book and in life!

It kind of reminds me of what she did with the snow queen and the past leader of the chosen. They both have higher levels of power, smile and pretend to be harmless, and both have clever personalities. If I looked at images of the two with no knowledge of the books, I’d probably think Liliane was the hero!

Right? Just goes to show that it’s the heart and the intention behind the act that truly determines if it’s good or not. I’m also a big fan of the concept that good outcomes follow good acts. It’s the “you reap what you sow” approach. I’ve found that there are times when my best intended decisions/acts get misunderstood or twisted by others. Does that make me bad? Absolutely not! Just because something didn’t turn out the way I hoped, doesn’t make me bad. It just means I have to keep trying/practicing until I get it right.

In my opinion Angel is facing the same thing, only there are people who are out to intentionally destroy her and they are working to do so on so many levels it’s daunting. And it’s the seeds of uncertainty they planted in her thoughts that seem to be doing the most damage to her. Very much like today. The battle in anyone is really fought and won/lost in the mind first, then in the events that are shaped by those thoughts. Some pretty deep thinking, if you like.

Kitty included the love interests on the covers of the last books of the Magiford series, so I’m hoping we see Evariste on the next one!

So, looking at the cover in more detail, I’m seeing a castle, mountains, and a lake. At first I thought of Verglas, but she doesn’t go to Verglas in either The Twelve Dancing Princesses or Snow White. Could this be somewhere in Mulberg? But again, I don’t recall anything with this description in Snow White, but it does fit Verglas. Wow! Can’t wait to read this one! 😁👏🎉🎊❤️

Trial of Magic Cover Reveal

Hello, Champions!

I know you obviously know some of what is going happen in Trial of Magic (I mean, it overlaps with Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White, so it’s pretty clear what you can expect). BUT there are a few surprises coming in Trial of Magic, (more than you probably suspect), and it’s been killing me not to share even a hint of them. (Soon, though, you shall all know!)


But there is something I can reveal that is spoiler free–the cover!!


There are a couple of interesting things I want to point out about this cover (again, these are spoiler free so don’t worry).

  1. In the first three books Angelique always has magic swirling around her in a different color, and you’ll notice it’s silver colored for this cover. Pop quiz for you champion: what’s the color of Angelique’s core magic? Yes that’s right, it’s silver! We have seen her reluctantly use her core magic in previous books, and you can expect more situations in this book where she has to use it again.

  2. This is the last cover where Angelique will be wearing her fancy color changing dress. (Not because the dress is ruined in this story or anything, so stop panicking.)


Finally, I have some good news to share! It looks like we’re on schedule for a July 30th release date! I’m not sure yet if we’ll have enough time to have a pre-order because this is a TIGHT deadline, but I feel fairly comfortable saying that the book will be released then. 🙂
