Match your wits against a series of 4 puzzle challenges in this Retha-themed virtual escape room.

The Second Age of Retha books are a GameLit series featuring a veteran video game player who gets stuck in the game on a comically bad character and has to unite the other players to safely escape.

However, you do not need to have read the Second Age of Retha book series to participate or understand this activity (but it will make it more fun).

Escape Room Instructions:

You can do this activity at any time either solo or in a group.

Use a computer (not your phone) to complete the escape room activities as others have found that some smartphones do not resize the activities properly which makes it difficult to complete them.

If you discuss the puzzles in the Champion Discord or Facebook group use spoiler tags on Discord, and identify your post as a spoiler post on Facebook to avoid giving clues away to others.

Many thanks to Champion RayJay for creating this awesome activity for a previous SheaCon event and allowing me to share it with everyone!

Enjoy these free puzzles featuring quote graphics from fantasy author K. M. Shea. There are over 60 puzzles to choose from with a variety of difficulty levels (based on the number of pieces).

All of these jigsaw puzzles were created by the reader organizers of the online SheaCon event. Many thanks to all the Planners for creating this fan-favorite game and sharing them with us!

This is only a small sampling of the quote images based on K. M. Shea's books - you can find the full list on her Pinterest board.

Helpful Puzzle Hints:

  • If you want to be able to save your progress and not accidentally lose your work, you do have to sign up for a jigidi account. (It is the website where all the puzzles are hosted.) This is free, and you can come back to puzzles you’ve started to finish later.

  • If you sign up for a free account, you can go under the puzzles tab and bookmark puzzles that you want to save to complete at a later time. Under the same puzzles tab, you can also access puzzles that are in progress or puzzles that you’ve completed and want to finish again.

  • There is a zoom feature (the + and - in the corner) that can be very helpful in limiting optometrist visits after looking at small puzzle pieces.

  • Use the three dots icon in the upper right corner to open the puzzle panel to view the image and access the more advanced features like:

    • Change the background color under the puzzle timer. (Just click a colored box, and you’ll be able to try out which background color you prefer.)

    • You can pause the puzzle timer if you need to step away but still want to keep time.

Previews of the unscrambler cryptograms and madlibs

Magical Beings Word Unscrambler

Unscramble the names of these magical beings (example: Elf) found throughout my books (so they are not restricted to one series). Note: the first page is the list of words and the second page is the answer key so don't look at the second page until you are ready to check your answers! Thanks to reader Cheybri for creating this!

Book Quote Cryptograms

Popular book quotes from various K. M. Shea series have been encrypted (i.e. each letter in each quote has been swapped with a random letter). Use the letters given in the key and your puzzle-solving skills to decode the quote. Thanks to reader Cheybri for creating these too!

Sheaverse Madlibs!

Replace words from an existing book scene to be story accurate or a hysterical monster! Thanks to reader LouBerry for creating these!

MADLIB REMINDERS:

A NOUN is the name of a person, place or thing. Blood, toddler, chicken and finger are nouns. PLURAL means more than one.

A VERB is an action word. Eat, flip, jump and fly are verbs. Ate, flipped, jumped and flew are PAST TENSE VERBS.

AN ADJECTIVE describes something or somebody. Happy, fluffy, awesome, colorful and tall are adjectives.

AN ADVERB tells how something is done. It modifies a verb and often ends in -ly. Quietly, violently, smoothly and never are adverbs.

All of these games are reader-made creations based on the fantasy books by author K. M. Shea. They were made for the online fan event SheaCon and the event planners were generous enough to share them with everyone!
