I’m soooooo glad that Rakel ended as high as 3rd!! I adore her sweet, determined, gentle and loving character so much! She’s been my top heroine for years. ;D And oh, boy, her Farrin *SUPER SWOON* is my favourite guy character. Fits! haha

Yes! I adore her series. She is also my favorite, although Angelique also piqued my interest from the first timeless book. I’ve been dying to hear her story and I still am drowning in my tears of having to wait over 6 books ;).
But I’ve read Rakel’s series multiple times and I don’t often do that. K.M Shea is one of my favorite authors.

Yes, same here! Just LOVE Rakel and can’t get enough of re-reading her amazing story & tender romance. KM Shea is one of my favourite authors too and I think in the Snow Queen books she’s at her absolute best with such lifelike characters and amazing depth and backstories and scenery.
Yes, I met Angelique first in the Cinderella book as it was the first KM Shea book I read, and I was delighted when I found out she was in the other books too. Though to be quite honest I liked her better when she seemed sweeter… but then I haven’t read much of the Fairytale Enchantress series yet so we’ll see! 😉 Excited to find out more about Evariste. Still need to read Snow White too!!

Angel is sweet deep inside (very deep) . It is just the compassion fatigue getting to her. And you should read snow white and fte ASAP. Angel is awesome in them.

Aw, haha, good to know! Yes, she has a lot on her plate, poor thing. I really want to read them – got the first FTE book on sale and have just started it! 😀

Hello, everyone! I know that this comment is VERY random and has nothing whatsoever to do with the heroine post, but please, hear me out. It is about RoM. I was thinking… Enchantress Lovelana was saying that she thinks that there is a mole feeding the Chosen information. For some reason, the first person that popped into my head was Enchantress Felicienne of the Veneno Conclave Council. Here is why:
1), Her name kind of rhymes with Liliane
2). She was very persistent in wanting to seal Angelique in the first book.(What if she knew something…)
3). She insisted that Evariste write up reports regarding Angels progress. (She could be giving them to the Chosen)
4). She is Angeliques most […Outspoken critic] (According to Angel)
5). She is powerful (She has access to all records, reports, and assignment details)
Thank you for reading all of this and tell me what you think about it!

Ohhh, I never thought of that. Although, an author’s favorite trick is to blow the reader’s mind when they discover the traitor is someone NO one thinks about. For all we know, the mole could be Sybilla. * Shudders * I do NOT like the thought of a cheerful fairy godmother being a serial killer or something.
But think about all those mages Angelique invited to the Summit. Glaze, Sano, and Finnr. It’s a HUGE possibility it’s one of them.

I think those two weather mages who never want Angelique with them have got to be part of it. And was there a musical mage (Mande)? Who ratted out where she was going to the Conclave? And my mom and I have been discussing endlessly whether Clovicus is a possibility. He’d definitely be a surprise.

I wanna know what changed Blanche and Rein’s attitudes toward Angelique. In Curse they were pretty friendly, and even in Reign they were polite, just a lot more… cold?

Melody? I don’t think she is the mole just someone who doesn’t like angel. Acri had to get information from her.

I certainly think that she is a possible suspect but I personally think that there are several people serving as spies for the Chosen and probably a few people we don’t expect. The Chosen is too organized and too determined for there to only be one spy – at least that is my opinion anyway.

Ohhhhhh!!! My mind is blown!

Wow!! That really makes sense- in discord we were talking about that there would probably be a mold. We thinking that it would be Lilianne’s husband. But, Enchantress Felicienne really makes sense. I always thought “What is wrong with you!” because she was always so cold. You’re assumption makes so much sense. If we got a description we might be able to determine if they are sisters.

My friend (O.G. $) even thought *surprise* it could be Clovicus.
Which is very sad. Anyone could be a mole, thought I’d like to think that Clovicus isn’t.

I don’t think clovicus can be the mole. Yes he clearly can enter verglas and in AOM it was pretty clear that he poses danger to the chosen’s plans. That’s why they thought that the tracking spell could be his work.

Ohhh, good point! Feeling far more certain now!

Yeah,I wondered because I’ve read some books that make me a cynic on trust, but I don’t think Kitty would torture us like that. Also, Clovicus was in Verglas with his unwanted students- wouldn’t the Snow Queen’s magic have kept him out if he had turned?

Hooray!!!!! Thanks Kitty for that promise!!! Cannot wait to read the interview! I know it’s going to be amazing! Let the ladies have a chance to shine in the spotlight! 😉

I am so glad that Angelique and Kit won. I love their characters so much. Kitty, we know you are busy so thank you for working on an interview for us to read! Much appreciated. I can’t wait to see how Angel and Kit interact.

THANK YOU KITTY FOR DOING THE HEROINE INTERVIEW!!!! I’m willing to bet that Angelique and Kit will be bonding over how they’re the ones in their respective stories the only ones willing to fix and face the hard problems; Brit would try comforting them; Rakel and Quinn would attempt to act as peace makers to any arguments (if there is any) that ensue.
Kitty, if you’re taking questions for the interview, here are some for the top 5.
Rakel: what prompted the move of her school from Verglas to the Veneno Conclave in Mullberg.
Quinn: what was her wedding ceremony with Emerys like; and any hiccups that could (or did) happen.
Britt: was Merlin mad that she didn’t take first place so they couldn’t be the #1 popular power couple.
Angelique: has she remembered to question Odette about the familiar description of Phile’s dagger.
Kit: does she think that once she reaches the level cap, that she’ll get max affection with Pax instantly or be forced to slowly raise it the hard way.

I know I’m a little late to the party, but I had to comment anyway because you questions are genius!!!!

Some of the results have to be because you introduced us to some pretty amazing heroines in the last couple of years. The other girls are still awesome, but Angelique and Kit are world changers and Quinn has to be the most likeable person on the planet. I also think their partners came out winners too because their romances are part of what makes them who they are. Britt, for example, is a worthy heroine alone, but add the battle of wits between her and Merlin to the equation as well as his ambition mixed with her endless well of compassion and you get a power couple we can’t help but love.

You mean we are getting an interview?! Thank you soooo much!

2019 Heroine Poll Results

In September I held my annual Heroine Poll, and gave you champions five votes to pick your favorite K. M. Shea Heroines. Over 1,200 Champions voted in this poll, so a big thank you to everyone who participated! Now, for the results.

Smashing all previous records and taking first place by a huge gap is Angelique, with 735 votes! This is big because it means over half of all the Champions who participated voted for Angel. I can’t tell you how humbled and overjoyed I am that you Champions love her that much. Hopefully you’ll only like her more as she continues to let her sarcasm leak through!

Kit of Second Age of Retha took second place with 598 votes–a healthy lead over our third place winner, Rakel of the Snow Queen who snagged 553 votes. Fourth place was won by Quinn of Twelve Dancing Princesses with 515 votes, and the top five was rounded out with Britt Arthurs of King Arthurs and Her Knights taking fifth place with 501 votes.

After that, the vote count fell pretty drastically, but the votes dividing the heroines was much more hotly contested!

  1. 6th place: Gwendafyn of Royal Magic with 387 votes

  2. 7th place: Elle of Beauty and the Beast, 346

  3. 8th place: Tari of Red Rope of Fate, 286

  4. 9th place: Gemma of Rumpeltstilskin, 283

  5. 10th place: Cinderella of Cinderella and the Colonel with 257

If you want to see the final break out, you can check out the poll by clicking here!

Originally I was going to wait until we finished the Fairy Tale Enchantress themed blog posts to release this write up, but then I thought it might be nice to talk about it now while we wait for everyone in the community to read Reign of Magic…and then my mind was made up when I saw the results. Angelique aside, the results are still incredibly fascinating, because they somewhat mirror the results of the Hero poll.

The order is mixed up, but with the exception of Angelique, ALL the ladies in the top 10 had their significant others in the top 10 male characters. (As a reminder, Merlin took first, then Emerys, Solus Miles, Stil, Farrin, Benjimir, Friedrich, Arion, Severin, and Asher and Aaron.) Evariste wasn’t in the 2019 Hero Poll because I held it in January, and you didn’t have a chance to “meet” him until February, so he obviously couldn’t be in the top. But I’m willing to bet if I held it now he would bump Asher and Aaron out of place, making the top 10 a perfect reflection–even if the actual character order is different. (And Angelique totally hosed Merlin in the #1 vote department. He had 609 votes to her 735!)

I dug back through to the 2017 Heroine Poll–because we didn’t have one last year since we had our two month long summer reading program! Interestingly, the results are pretty similar. Britt took 1st that time, but Rakel staked her place in second, but Tari, Cinderella, Gemma, and Elle all appeared in the top 10. Dylan of Little Selkie and Raven of Life Reader had both appeared in the top ten, but they’ve fallen as I’ve greatly expanded the list. But hats off to Britt and Rakel for staying in the top five for two years!

In conclusion…I’m not entirely certain what to make of that, but I am grateful that Britt, Gwendafyn, and Tari break up the top 10 so it’s not a fairy tale monopoly. 😉 Once again, a big thank you to everyone who voted! I hope you enjoyed it, Champions, and thank you for reading!

PS: If you want a heroine interview…stay tuned! 😉
