The winners are every single one of my votes! How exciting! Honestly, I love all your heroines, Kitty, because they see a world outside of themselves and are women we can want to emulate. Even if their personalities aren’t all our cup of tea depending on our own personalities, their characters are always admirable and that’s why I, personally, read every series you write, because I can count on finding someone worth “following” in every book.

Wheeee! Angelique won. Again. Now we just need Evariste to do his part and together they will be unstoppable.

Yay! I’ve voted! It’s cool that it ends very near my birthday! 😄
I voted for Rakel, Snow White, Briar, Tari and Elise – in that exact order, I believe. They’re all very gentle and sweet in their own ways, along with other good things about them. It was fun doing this! 😊 May all of mine win! 😆 *dramatic evil laughter paired with thunder and lightning ensues*

Omigod I haven’t read all of Kitty’s books, but I’ve read the Elves of Lessa and the whole fairytale and also Angelique series. If you think about it, the one about the frog prince is like the typical playboy and studious workalcoholic but quiet girl coming together. Just a thought there, but I LOVE Angelique.

Angelique/Angel(hmm hmm mmmm Evariste, I see you. I’m sorry if I spelled your name wrong I haven’t read your books in a while 😉 🙁 ) = 👑

It was a hard choice, but I decided between Raven, Angel, Kit, Hazel, and Briar. Those characters are my favorites because they believe in all their actions and that good will always prevail over evil. Also, these characters always give me a good laugh.

It was really hard to decide, but I settled on Kit, Angelique, Quinn, Britt, and (I think) Fyn. I was going to put Hazel, instead of Fyn, but now I can’t remember whether I did or not because I spent so long dithering about it, haha. Anyway, I love your books, Kitty, and I’m sending encouragement and prayers your way to keep on writing. I love your sense of humor that comes through no matter what book you’re writing, and how you are able to balance the humor so well with the more serious parts. Kit’s bad luck and the way she responds is hilarious and inspirational. In my opinion, Second Age of Retha is probably the funniest and most awesome series I’ve ever read (and I read a LOT). Britt comes in a close second, and I love the way you made sure to give her that sense of nobility and greatness that always comes with King Arthur legends. Since I’ve always loved King Arthur stories, but wished he didn’t die at the end, yours was the first one I’ve read that made me cry but still made me smile and feel good at the end. And I can’t forget Quinn and Emerys, who have my favorite story in Timeless fairy tales (I wish I had a talking, adorable all black mouse), and of course Angelique, whose depth of feeling and hidden strength as well as her long struggle are amazingly well done, and Fyn, whose vulnerability and strength are awesome, as well as Hazel’s humor and backbone, and her “virtuous idiot” self. All of your characters are very well done, and the way you weave together amazing stories is an inspiration to an aspiring author like me (as I’ve commented before). Keep it up, and thank you!

Ugh! This is so hard! There are things I like about every single one of these heroines. That is a HUGE reason I love your books so much. So often my favorite people happen to be from the book(s) I’m currently reading. For instance, I just got done re-reading the King Arthurs books because I also just finished watching the Merlin series on Netflix and I didn’t like the ending. So I had to re-read these King Arthurs books so that was foremost in my mind. (The Merlin story was going pretty well right up to the ending. I won’t give any spoilers in case people want to watch it.) So, in this most recent re-reading I just love (again) how much Britt loves her knights. She is even able to forgive Lancelot! And that takes a big heart and a lot of courage that I wish I had more of. It was so, totally, the right thing to do, but it is not always so easy to do. (sigh)

Another late Merlin fan!!!!!! I just found the show a few months ago, and I went into it knowing the ending, and it still hurt. It’s okay, there are tons of clean fanfics that take place post S5, and some are really good. (I have read more than is probably healthy. My sister judges me so hard.) Plus, there’s a fanmade script on Tumblr that is so well done I practically consider it canon- it’s called Kingdom Come. You should read it! I cried!

I recently read 12 Dancing Princesses (been going through a lot of your books on my longtime to-read list during quarantine) and Quinn is by far my favorite female character you’ve created so far, at least that I’ve read. The fact that she’s the first person to offer to help Angelique since Evariste’s kidnap instead of thinking of how Angelique could help her with her own difficulties (which aren’t insignificant) just endeared her to me forever.

I’ve read pretty much all Kitty’s books except Life Reader, and Quinn is top of my list too. She is such a caring woman balanced with killer battle skills! Turns out my other top four are also warrior women… But that could be due to Kitty’s skill in writing them. Kit, Elle, Tari, and Lis all have similarly balanced skill sets. Quinn gets the top spot for the reason you mentioned, though, and being paired with one of my favorite elves didn’t hurt. I should mention that a couple other heroines missed my top five by only a hair or two, like Britt, Dylan, Hazel, and of course, Angelique. More warriors!

2020 Favorite Shea/Sohma Heroine

Today marks the day of princesses, warriors, and butt-kickers. Today…is the start of the 2020 Favorite K. M. Shea/A. M. Sohma Heroine poll!

Who will win? You decide!

Here are the rules: you get to cast your ballot once, but you can vote for up to five heroines! The poll order changes with every refresh, so look carefully to make sure you haven’t missed any of your favorites. The poll opens today, and will close June 14th.

Last year Angelique of the Fairy Tale Enchantress series, Kit of Second Age of Retha, and Rakel of the Snow Queen series ruled supreme, but this year we have a new challenger: Hazel Medeis from the Hall of Blood and Mercy trilogy!

Now, may the best heroine win!

Thank you for voting in the first poll of our Summer of Polls! At the end of the month I’ll review who won. But in the meantime, stay tuned for the “Favorite Hero” poll next week!
